[5 April– 29 May]
The exhibition presents more than 90 paintings, pieces of
graphic art, drawings and sculptures, the fruits of the Mikołów open airs called
"the Mikołów impressions". The unique character of the event and the significant
place it occupies among similar events in Poland may be attributed to its
participants and originators: consecutive mayors of the town, Gerard Piszczek -
the manager, as well as its curators: Stanisław Mazuś, Renata Bonczar and
Franciszek Maśluszczak.
Throughout the 20 editions of the Impressions, about 125
artists from major artistic centres have visited Mikołów, among them professors
of academies of fine arts, artists of various ages - those famous and renowned
and those less popular, but with significant achievements. Among the most
renowned participants, one could mention the following late artists: Jerzy
Duda-Gracz, Zbysław Maciejewski, Jan Nowak, Franciszek Starowieyski and Stefan
Suberlak. Participants of the open airs have also included foreign artists from
Holland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Yugoslavia and Greece. The 20th
anniversary of the commencement of Mikołów open airs is an opportunity to
present a collection consisting of as many as 400 pieces of art, a property of
the Town Hall in Mikołów.
